Born and bred in Dublin, I am a self-taught visual artist whose artistic education was not built in the classroom. While early encouragement from teachers pointed me toward formal art college, I took the more scenic route, one shaped by the raw mechanics of real-world labor.
For years, I worked in diverse trades across Dublin, as a signwriter, painter/decorator, and handyman. But far from distracting from my creativity, these years actually taught me a lot about surfaces, texture, structure, materials and aesthetics.
This practical knowledge came together when I was commissioned to paint my first large-scale mural. That single project launched a 27-year professional career in the commercial art sector. Over nearly three decades, operating at a high technical level, I was entrusted by clients to create sprawling public and private murals, and abstract designer paintings.
With this valuable life experience, and a rekindled artistic spirit, I have returned to my roots in my private studio and am channeling these skills into original fine art. Working primarily in heavy-body acrylics from my home studio, I look forward with excitement to launching my forthcoming new collections of Landscapes and Streetscenes and to exploring a new purer artistic expression.
